Hi there!
When dealing with chronic pain, trust and understanding between doctor and patient are essential. I believe it's important for you to know who I am—not just as a physician, but as a person. My values, my choices, and my own journey shape how I practice medicine and how I walk alongside my patients. Here's my story.
Hello, I'm Caroline Racz—a medical doctor, but not only
Time is our most precious resource—the one thing we can never get back. I believe life is meant to be lived fully, not just endured, and that every moment matters. When chronic pain steals your time, your energy, and your ability to enjoy the simple pleasures that make life meaningful, it robs you of your greatest wealth.
That's why I'm here: to help you reclaim your life.
My Journey
My path in medicine has taken me across continents and through unexpected transformations. I began as a maxillofacial surgeon in France, reconstructing faces after trauma and cancer—intricate work that taught me both precision and compassion. But life had other plans for our family.
Over the past decade, my husband, our son, our rescue cat, and I have moved between countries and continents, always driven by curiosity and the desire to learn and discover more. From medical rotations in Senegal and Indonesia to surgical training in Canada, each place has shaped how I see medicine and life. When we arrived in Canada permanently, I discovered family medicine and fell in love with chronic pain management—a field where I could combine my surgical precision with a holistic approach to healing.
Today, I practice pain medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and serve as an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University. My surgical background gives me deep anatomical knowledge that helps me understand the body's complexities, while my training in literature and science taught me to question, reconsider, and never stop learning.
My approach to medicine and chronic pain
Over the past 15 years, I've walked alongside countless patients through their medical journeys, and I've learned that true healing requires more than treating symptoms.
Chronic pain affects your whole life—your relationships, your dreams, your daily joys. That's why I take a holistic approach, combining evidence-based interventional procedures and medication management with lifestyle strategies and realistic goal-setting.
Sometimes healing means helping you understand how chronic pain impacts your life and finding achievable goals that restore quality and meaning to your days. You deserve to be heard, understood, and supported in finding your own path forward.
Pain doesn't have to define your story. Every person's experience is unique, and you deserve someone who will listen, understand, and work with you to develop a plan that fits your real life—not some textbook ideal.
Whether you're dealing with TMJ pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, or any chronic condition, I'm here to help you reconnect with the simple pleasures and meaningful moments that make life rich.
My passion of sharing knowledge
I'm passionate about empowering people beyond the clinic walls. Through social media, self-published books, and this website, I share practical tools and strategies for managing chronic pain—reaching anyone, anywhere who needs support.
How I choose to live
I practice what I preach about living well. I've run three half-marathons and one full marathon (still processing that experience!). Our family hikes together, grows our own vegetables, and experiments with new recipes. We play board games instead of watching TV—we don't own one—and we use screens intentionally, choosing quality time over passive consumption.
We're a bilingual household, which isn't just about communication—it's brain health. Research shows bilingualism helps protect against dementia, and I believe it's one of the best gifts we can give ourselves and our children.
I take multiple courses each year, read voraciously, and am always learning new skills. I'm committed to minimalist living, healthy habits, and the constant pursuit of growth—because if I'm asking my patients to embrace change and new approaches, I need to live that way too.
Let's talk chronic pain. And more importantly, let's talk about how to reclaim your life.
